Elder Mark Eleazar Leonard is a native of Los Angeles, CA; the younger of two sons born to the late Pastor Alvin and First Lady Emeritus, Evangelist Mamie Leonard. A student at Kings College and Seminary, Elder Leonard, affectionately called Pastor Mark, currently serves as Senior Pastor of Greater Deliverance Church of God in Christ; a rapidly growing body of enthusiastic Spirit filled believers in the City of Inglewood, CA. Pastor Mark is a highly anointed visionary young man on a mission for God.
In November of 1986, Pastor Mark was blessed to be a part of the great beginnings of Greater Deliverance COGIC as his father heeded the call of God and began holding services in their home. During the early years of the ministry, he began serving in various capacities including, but not limited to, overseeing the youth ministry.
In 1994, Pastor Mark entered a new season and began attending Church of the Harvest under the leadership of Bishop Clarence E. McClendon. This season radically changed Pastor Mark's life as he made a fresh commitment to Christ. Attending bible study one evening, the anointing of God filled the room and he was filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues. During this season of his life, he developed a hunger for the Word of God and immersed himself in prayer and the study of God's word. Though the intent was for personal edification, ministry doors rapidly began to open and consequently he enrolled and began attending the Life Line International School of Ministry in Altadena, CA.
In 1999, recognizing the gift and call of God on Pastor Mark's life, his mother began to nurture the gift of ministry by opening the door for him to travel with her team, The Mamie Leonard Shut-in Ministry, and share the word of God throughout the United States. Pastor Mark's anointing began to increase as he preached during the one night shut-in revivals.
In 2003, under the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the confirmation of two witnesses, Pastor Mark was led to return to Greater Deliverance COGIC, made a commitment to stand by his father's side and began serving in multiple capacities seeking to ease the load of ministry on his father.
In 2004, Pastor Mark was ordained in the Church of God in Christ under Bishop Charles E. Blake, Jurisdictional Prelate and then Presiding Bishop G.E. Patterson. During that year he was also appointed as Youth Pastor of Greater Deliverance COGIC.
In 2005, Pastor Alvin Leonard appointed Pastor Mark to the office of Assistant Pastor. Pastor Mark successfully maintained his responsibilities as Youth Pastor while serving in the office of Assistant Pastor until the demise of his father in December 2007.
In 2008, Pastor Mark Leonard was appointed to the office of Senior Pastor of Greater Deliverance COGIC by Bishop Charles E. Blake. Pastor Mark has a heart for the lost and is passionate about reaching them while developing mature saints. He seeks to connect generations while ministering relevant words into the lives of the young and older individual. His phenomenal approach to the Word of God, inspires as he employs traditional and non-traditional approaches to conveying his message. Since his appointment as Pastor, the church has experienced unprecedented growth and is soaring to new heights. |
